Bed Bug Complaints Are Now the #1 Complaint Filed by Tenants; the RPA Seeks Help From the Public to Prevent More Infestations.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) October 15, 2012

An in depth investigation of complaints filed by tenants in all 50 States through the Rental Protection Agency website; http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com shows that this problem is impacting all States and trending inward from the coastal states.

“Its scary to see a trend like this. Just five years ago we had never heard of any bed bug complaints; today its the most common complaint we handle,” says Scott Paxton, Director of the RentalProtectionAgency.com

The impact this imposes on the rental industry is huge as it not only drives up rent cost; it creates a major crisis for tenants and landlords alike. Unlike other apartment problems, bed bug infestations is not something you can run from. Moving out of a bed bug infested unit will only cause the infestation to spread more. The instinct to move is most likely the root cause of increased infestations in apartments and rental units.

To help prevent the spread of bed bugs, the RPA is asking the public for help. Moving out of a bed bug infested apartment will spread the problem further. Throwing away a mattress or furniture is not enough and will lead to new infestations. Bed bugs are parasites and lay thousands of eggs which are impossible to kill without professional treatment.

Tenants suffering from bed bug infestations can file a complaint online through the Rental Protection Agency Complaint center: http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center.php
